This two-day, two-part series will promote coordination of patient care from the initial point of contact to the end of the patient treatment and emphasize closing tracking and communication loops to achieve safe and effective care and care transitions. Subject matter experts will present from both clinical and legal perspectives. They will utilize interactive activities, questions, and case studies to engage participants. This two-day series will connect the dots between medical malpractice claims and the mitigation of risk through patient/family engagement, safe transition plans, process and policy design and implementation, and team communication.

David Levin is a founding member of Wharton Levin Ehrmantraut & Klein, P.A. He has extensive expertise in complex medical cases and is the lead counsel for the major medical malpractice insurer in the State of Maryland. Mr. Levin has tried over 250 cases to verdict. Mr. Levin also has represented many of the major hospitals based in Maryland and District of Columbia, and has been counsel to Holy Cross Hospital, a division of Trinity Health, for over 30 years. Mr. Levin is a past president of the Maryland Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has been selected by his peers to be listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 1995, and has been voted one of the top 50 attorneys in Maryland by Super Lawyers every year since 2007.

Director of Ambulatory Nursing for Pacificare [FHP] Christine Callahan RN, MBA has over 22 years of operational healthcare experience and has successfully launched many start up physician practices in the PA/NJ/DE area over the past 10 years. Ms. Callahan’s past work experience includes working as a Director of Ambulatory Nursing for Pacificare [FHP] Health Plan located in southern California and Assistant to the Regional Executive Director for a staff model federally qualified HMO in the New England area. Chris attended Boston College School of Nursing where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then went on to get her Masters in Business Administration in Virginia. Chris brings a great deal of operational experience to physician practices and health centers by targeting high risk areas to help promote high quality and safe patient care.
